Igigi was a term used to refer to the gods of heaven in Sumerian mythology. Though sometimes synonymous with the term "Annunaki
In one myth the Igigi were the younger gods who were servants of the Annunaki,
until they rebelled and were replaced by the creation of humans.

This page on the Occult began as an edition to the bottom of the Magick page. But to give it true justice I realized it needed a page of it's own. Although many of the principles of the occult and the working of Magick are rooted in similar beginnings and share many common beliefs in practice they are miles apart. Throughout this site the interconnectedness of all spiritual philosophy are so interlocking separation is difficult. Thought I would open this page with the snake/serpent, as I have an special attraction for its symbolism. In the future there will be a whole page devoted to this subject(work in progress). The serpent, or snake, is one of the oldest and most widespread mythological symbols. Snakes have been associated with some of the oldest rituals known to humankind. Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. - Genesis 3:1 ~ Serpent and Egg in AmericaCosmic Serpent Images Page ~ Tracing the Origins of the Serpent Cult ~ Serpent Faith ~ Ancient Origins ~ The Bite of the Serpent Logos ~ AionVision Serpent ~ Naga

Next is Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (My Favorite Occultist)

"Madame Blavatsky (1831–91), the founder of the Theosophical Society, only practiced mediumship to contact powerful spirits capable of conferring esoteric knowledge. Blavatsky did not believe these spirits were deceased humans, and held beliefs in reincarnation different from the views of most Spiritualists. Spiritualists at that time viewed Theosophy as unscientific and both occultist and cult-like. Theosophists viewed Spiritualism as unsophisticated and uncosmopolitan."

The activities of the Lucis Trust promote the education of the human mind towards recognition and practice of the spiritual principles and values upon which a stable and interdependent world society may be based. ~ACTIVITIES: " The activities of the Lucis Trust include the worldwide financial support of the Arcane School, the Lucis Publishing Companies, World Goodwill, Triangles, Lucis Trust Libraries and Lucis Productions." THE ARCANE SCHOOL: The Arcane School was created by Alice A. Bailey in 1923 as a training school for adult men and women in meditation techniques and the development of spiritual potentiality. The School provides sequential courses of study and meditation, and practical training in group service. The Arcane School is conducted by correspondence in eight languages through headquarters in New York, London, and Geneva. READ MORE

Theosophy is in opposition to the spiritualist interpretation of evolution. Theosophy teaches a metaphysical theory of evolution mixed with human devolution. Spiritualists do not accept the devolution of the theosophists. To theosophy humanity starts in a state of perfection (see Golden age) and falls into a process of progressive materialization (devolution), developing the mind and losing the spiritual consciousness. After the gathering of experience and growth through repeated reincarnations humanity will regain the original spiritual state, which is now one of self-conscious perfection. Theosophists and Spiritualists were both very popular metaphysical schools of thought especially in the early 20th century and thus were always clashing in their different beliefs. Madame Blavatsky was critical of spiritualism; she distanced theosophy from spiritualism as far as she could and allied herself with eastern occultism.- H.P. Blavatsky

Colin Wilson (Colin Wilson World) > The Occult: A History (1971) PDF Colin Henry Wilson (26 June 1931 – 5 December 2013) was a prolific English writer who first came to prominence as a philosopher and novelist. He also wrote widely on true crimeMysticysm mysticism and the paranormal. Wilson called his philosophy "new existentialism" or "phenomenological existentialism", and maintained his life work "that of a philosopher, and (his) purpose to create a new and optimistic existentialism.
By the late 1960s Wilson had become increasingly interested in metaphysical and occult themes. In 1971, he published The Occult: A History, featuring interpretations on Aleister Crowley, George Gurdjieff, Helena Blavatsky, Kabbalah, primitive magic, Franz Mesmer, Grigori Rasputin, Daniel Dunglas Home, and Paracelsus (among others). He also wrote a markedly unsympathetic biography of Crowley, Aleister Crowley: The Nature of the Beast, and has written biographies on other spiritual and psychological visionaries including Gurdjieff, Carl Jung, Wilhelm Reich, Rudolf Steiner and P. D. Ouspensky.
Originally, Wilson focused on the cultivation of what he called "Faculty X", which he saw as leading to an increased sense of meaning and on abilities such as telepathy and the awareness of other energies. In his later work he suggests the possibility of life after death and the existence of spirits, which he personally analyzes as an active member of the Ghost Club. **

Ain Soph

The Wonders of God's Creation Manifested in the Variety of Eight Worlds: As they were made known Experimentally to the Author  by Jane Ward Leade (March 1624 – 19 August 1704)  Her writings cover many of the Christian mysteries: the nature of Christ, the redemption of Man through a return to the Godhead, the existence of the Sophia, the Apocalypse and the possibility of Ascension. The scope of her work has drawn comparisons with the Kabbalists, the Gnostics, the Alchemists, and even the Rosicrucians in her belief in the presence of God in all things (Pantheism) and the existence of the Holy Spirit in each soul (Nondualism). Around 1694, she became a Christian Universalist, rejecting the "Doctrine that hath been preached of an endless Misery and Torment" which had "wrought little effect in frightening or terrifying 'em from their evil Courses." She believed that punishment after death was purgative, not punitive.* *

** List of Famous Occultists **

Here is a list of famous occultists. For my purposes I have focused on the Enlightenment/Age of Reason to the current day, leaving the Renaissance occultists list at the bottom, with the exception of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa and the story of Abramelin the Mage/Abraham of Worms. I have cherry picked ones I feel are the most important from all periods and placed them at the beginning of the lists, alphabetically and chronologically. Many of these people are listed in other areas of the site. Most of these links are Wikipedia links but whenever possible I have chosen links to other sources than Wikipeadia and sometime I have both. Below this list I have the  section on Spiritualism, another manisfestion of what is considered occultism. As I have pointed out elsewhere, the differance between spiritual experience seem to weave in and out of each other and often drawing difinitive lines where one ends and another begins is difficult. This list continues on the More Occultists page.

John Dee Wiki >> Enochian Magick References >> "Enochian" Materials PDFs >> Writings of John Dee (1527-1608) >> Enochian Supplies and Articles *** Edward Kelley medium who assisted John Dee ****Enochian Magic is based on the writings of Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelley. It is a system of ceremonial magic based on the evocation and commanding of spirits. Dee and Kelley received instructions from angels and wrote them down in journals, including the Enochian Alphabet and a table of correspondences. There are similarities between the Enochian texts and various grimoires, such as the Heptameron. The Enochian system of magic relates to the secrets contained in the Book of Enoch, and John Dee may well have have known of the existence of the Slavonic Book of the Secrets of Enoch. Enochian Magic was popularised by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, primarily through the writings and instructions of Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers

The Night Battles: Witchcraft and Agrarian Cults in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries

Walter Starkie
a leading authority on the Romani people (Gypsies)

is an ancient tale about a Greek courtesan who marries the king of Egypt
is considered to be the earliest variant of the Cinderella story.

The Newgrange
It was built during the Neolithic period, around 3200 BC,
making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids
Traditionally, it was a burial site for Celtic Kings.
But Irish myths and legends say it was also a place where magicians met and fairies united.

** Although the idea of Thecnoshamanism is mostly religated to the world of fantasy as seen in the Stra Trek episode linked here I am certain it will evole. In my Transhumanism page there is evidence of this evolution to explore.
