Composition of the human body: The elemental composition of the human body can be looked at from the point of view of either mass composition, or atomic composition. To illustrate both views, the adult male human body is approximately 57% water, and water is 11% hydrogen by mass but 67% by count of atoms (i.e.67 atomic percent). Thus, most of the mass of the human body is oxygen, but most of the atoms in the human body are hydrogen atoms. Both mass-composition and atomic composition figures are given below (see pie graphs and table).
Body composition may also be analyzed in terms of molecular type (e.g., water, protein, connective tissue, fats (or lipids) apatite (in bones), carbohydrates (such as glycogen and glucose) and DNA. In terms of tissue type, the body may be analyzed into water, fat, muscle, bone, etc. In terms of cell type, the body contains hundreds of different types of cells, but notably, the largest number of cells contained in a human body (though not the largest mass of cells) are not human cells, but consist of bacteria (bacterial cells) residing in the normal human gastrointestinal tract. Oxygen: The air we breathe is comprised of a variety of molecules of which only 20.9% is oxygen. The average person breathes in approximately 432 liters of oxygen per day (this is equivalent to 1216 cans of soda). The tissues of the body need a minimum of 352.8 liters of oxygen per day, and this is assuming the person is at rest. The brain, which is only 2% of the body mass, needs almost 20% of the oxygen that is brought in. If the brain doesn’t receive oxygen for more than 3 minutes, the cells will begin to die. Once brain cells cease to function, permanent damage sets in. Read More Here
Water: All known forms of life depend on water. Up to 70% of a human's body weight is water - that needs to be topped-up regularly for us to stay healthy. Read More Here ~ More Water Issues from the Water Encyclopedia

Food: any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink, or that plants absorb, in order to maintain life and growth. Human nutrition refers to the provision of essential nutrients necessary to support life and health. Generally, people can survive up to 40 days without food, a period largely depending on the amount of water consumed, stored body fat, muscle mass and genetic factors. Read More Here
Shelter: A shelter can protect you from the sun, insects, wind, rain, snow, hot or cold temperatures and enemy observation. It can give you a feeling of well-being. It can help you maintain your will to survive. In some areas, your need for shelter may take precedence over your need for food and possibly even your need for water. For example, prolonged exposure to cold can cause excessive fatigue and weakness (exhaustion). An exhausted person may develop a “passive” outlook, thereby losing the will to survive. Read More Here
Sleep: Why We Sleep. There are three kinds of sleep: light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep. Important physiological functions happen in all three – there is no wasted junk sleep in a healthy night’s sleep. Most middle-aged and older adults would probably prefer to get more deep sleep and less light sleep. A common shift in sleep architecture as we age is a loss of deep sleep and its replacement with light sleep. Read More Here
